Installing and Configuring TCP/IP
Part-I
Session Objectives
- Installing TCP/IP
- Configuring TCP/IP
As part of the
Typical Settings setup option, TCP/IP is installed by default during
installation of Windows Server 2003.
However, if TCP/IP
has been uninstalled from a computer, or if the protocol was cleared during the
Windows Server 2003 Setup program, you need to install the protocol if you want
to connect the computer to a TCP/IP network.
Installing TCP/IP
To install TCP/IP,
complete the following steps:
1. In the Network
Connections window, right-click the network connection for which you want to install
and enable TCP/IP, and then select Properties.
2. In the General tab
(for a local area connection) or the Networking tab (all other connections), if
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is not in the list of installed components, do the
following:
a. Click Install.
b. Click Protocol, and
then click Add.
c. In the Select Network
Protocol dialog box, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click OK.
3. Verify that the
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) check box is selected, and then click Close.
Configuring TCP/IP
To access the network
protocol dialog box, open Network Connections, right-click the appropriate
network connection, and then select Properties. In the properties dialog box
that opens, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
and click Properties.
Now we can configure
TCP/IP automatically or dynamically as illustrated in the following two
figures.
Q. Discuss the
installation and configuration of procedure of TCP/IP to be followed by Windows
server 2003.
