Lesson-7

Understanding TCP/IP-I

Exploring the Layers of the TCP/IP Model

TCP/IP is a suite of protocols that provides the foundation for Windows networks and the Internet. The TCP/IP protocol stack is based on a four-layer reference model, including the network interface, internet, transport, and application layers.
The core of TCP/IP services exists at the internet and transport layers. In particular, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), IP, TCP, User Datagram Protocol (UDP), and Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) are used in all TCP/IP installations.
